Design has many definitions, as we found out each time we asked a designer "what is design?" It varied from short and sweet like Massimo Vignelli‘s "Design is above all, discipline" to long and funny like Stefan Sagmeister‘s "Design is the expression of an idea, process or system for the betterment of client interests and human locomotion not excluding the recent trend of lower x-height among Dutch typographers." Now we’d like to ask you to contribute your best Design Is… definition in the comments below. After your Design Is… phrase put your full name and school or place of work (if applicable). We plan to collect all these definitions and make a dynamic, living poster out of this. (Definitions are also being collected on Twitter at #designis.)
