Connecting innovative products with consumers

As we move further into the world of DIY design, where it seems
everyone is a designer, it’s more and more important to have curators and connectors bringing the best stuff to people’s attention. That’s why it was interesting to read the positive profile of
Daily Grommet in the Sunday
NY Times article
"Matching Innovators with Shoppers." Daily Grommet endorses companies that it says offer outstanding products and services—what they call “nice companies.” For a product or service to be featured on Daily Grommet it has to be chosen and vetted by their Lexington, Mass.–based 15-person team.
Why are they doing this? "We are seeing an unprecedented democratization of innovation, but existing retail and distribution systems don't give everyday people access to the fruits of that trend," says Jules Pieri, one of the founders of Daily Grommet.
The article goes on to discuss what criteria the DG team uses in figuring out which items and experiences are “authentic” and “trustworthy.” They have a
great little website, that features “Today’s Grommet,” (which can be emailed to you), asks for Grommet submissions, and hosts a lively marketplace and community. The women behind this website express surprise that they still don’t have a direct competitor in evaluating and endorsing these kinds of DIY products, but I suspect they won’t be alone in the field for long.

Thanks, Max. Welcome to the Glimmer community…
I would just like to say that this is a really cool website! I had to look here for school and am thinking that it could be somewhat of a new homepage for me!
