Ban, Shigeru
Shigeru Ban is an architect and designer known for his use of eco-friendly and economic materials such as cardboard and paper. Ban has studios in Tokyo and New York.
In Glimmer: Ban explains how a crisis in Rwanda inspired him to create emergency shelters from paper tubing (and how he later used the same material to build a church in Japan). Photo below is cabins in India made of paper tubing.

Currently working on: Ban is designing the Metal Shutter House building in New York City, which is designed with folding glass doors and roll-up shutters so that apartments can be completely opened up to the outside environment.
